As I mentioned in my previous post, the two commentaries are very different, but if anyone wants to compare them in terms of length, BECNT is 720 pages, while EEC is 780. So, if anything, EEC is slightly more thorough, not to mention completely up to date in terms of interaction with recent scholarship.

You can purchase this commentary on John’s Gospel in digital format on LOGOS (one volume) and in hard cover on AMAZON (two volumes; John 1-12 and John 13-21). The commentary is part of the Evangelical Exegetical Commentary (EEC) series. The series focuses on primary engagement with the original Greek text. Interaction with secondary sources (though plentiful) is secondary. Evangelical and Exegetical The Evangelical Exegetical Commentary (EEC) series (including this volume) is evangelical and exegetical. It evidences a high view of Scripture and is very thorough without being labored. There are numerous topical excursuses and biblical theology comments. There are also various figures, charts, and maps. A Reliable Resource This volume will serve as a reliable resource for preachers, teachers, and serious Bible students who want to know what the text says (based on the original author’s intent, i.e., the apostle John) rather than what it does not say. It displays a robust triadic hermeneutic (history, literature, and theology) and biblical-theological approach (connecting John’s Gospel to its primary canonical sources in the Old Testament and other New Testament writings).
