Reviews
An Introduction to the New Testament. Zondervan, 2005.
This book was packed with useful information and valuable insights on authorship, date, other issues related to the writing of the bible. I found the book very readable even given the denseness of the subject matter.
NKJV Study Bible. Thomas Nelson, 2018.
I am not reviewing the text here. Either you like the NKJV or you don't. I personally would not choose it first. I am reviewing the study notes.
I think these notes are willing to wade in where other study bibles remain silent. A one volume commentary was created from these notes and I found it to be excellent. Earl Radmacher was influential in the creation of the notes. He is an excellent bible scholar.
Radmacher, Earl D.; Allen, Ronald B.; House, H. Wayne . eds. Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Commentary. Thomas Nelson, 1999.
While I tend to read multivolume commentaries these days, I used this for a long time in my early Christian days. I found it's layout to be clear and readable. I also found it tackled tough issues when many single volume commentaries remain silent. I think it's a great commentary if you can only carry one with you and you need the whole bible.
