Genesis. 2 Vols. WBC. Thomas Nelson, 1987.
A lot of energy was dedicated to speculation and commentary on Graf-Wellhausen's documentary hypothesis. Still, such is the case with many commentaries on the Pentateuch in the last century, it seems. Other than that, I found this to be a very insightful companion text to Genesis, having read both volumes from cover to cover. Wenham referred to a vast multitude of diverse resources to present all possibilities on any given section of scripture.
Overall, he did a fine job, though I admit he seemed to gloss over some details, such as how Lot's wife became a pillar of salt, or what that even means.
