This is my preferred textbook for undergraduate students. It is written from a conservative perspective and yet it doesn't devote countless pages making a defense against liberal views that most students reading a short introduction to the New Testament probably have not heard and could care less about. Instead of being bogged down in academic debates this textbook focuses on what the New Testament authors really cared about. For each book a one-page discussion of author, recipients, purpose, date, and provenance is given, followed by a focus on the various themes and messages of each book. I have found no textbook like this one and plan to use it for quite some time.
