Reviews
Duguid’s commentary is handy for pastors seeking to help church members apply the book of Ruth to their Christian lives. Duguid does not get bogged down in details, but maintains a helpful devotional outlook. Duguid’s commentary is an invaluable resource for teachers who have studied the text and want to check their exegetical work with a careful and Reformed interpretive lens. Duguid will also help pastors make contemporary applications.

I read this one devotionally before reading it during sermon preparation and in both uses found it very, very helpful. It is a sermon-based commentary and ideal for giving an example of how to preach the text and how to illustrate and apply it. This is one of my favorites in the Reformed Expository Commentary series and the experts agree that it is equally strong on Ruth and Esther. Like Baldwin’s, this one is ideal for pastors or general readers alike.

Duguid's commentary would be a good addition to the library of any pastor or teacher. His exposition of the text is careful and clear. There is also a very helpful focus on contemporary application.

Iain Duguid's commentary is primarily directed toward pastors and teachers, but it will benefit any reader. The commentary is less technical than many others and very practical.
