Thompson’s work demonstrates responsible exegesis of the Johannine Epistles. She begins each section with a summary of the text’s main ideas then examines one or two verses with more detail. Thompson’s writing is accessible, her arguments incisive, and her theological explanations are reasonable. [Full Review]

By no means comprehensive, but as a non-technical commentary, it successfully does what it is designed to do. Thompson is a fairly moderate evangelical, so is able to write in such a way which will serve readers from a variety of theological positions. A good "bang for your buck" option.
