Very helpful to the busy pastor. It seems I am often giving a hearty amen to Stott's conclusions. His writing is insightful, energetic, and brimming with simplicity and clarity. However, Stott is also incredibly thourough for the amount of space he uses. Touches on the most important scholarly issues in some manner, but yet never seems to take one away from the focus on the text at hand. You never get the sense that the author has shied away from the most important matters at hand. A God exalting, church edifying treatment of the Thessalonian epistles.

I have become a collector of commentaries ever since my seminary days in the 1990s. As such, I am only going to recommend the best overall commentary for each book of the Bible on this site. For the preacher/teacher, Stott's commentary on 1/2 Thessalonians proves consistently to be the most helpful, in my opinion. The way that he outlines the material and speaks to the dominant thrust of Paul throughout the texts is outstanding.
