Reviews
Webbs discussion of the closing chapters of Zechariah and their connection to Christ was truly inspiring! This commentary is well worth adding to your collection. Webb is a great writer and he brought a lot of clarity to what can be a confusing book of the Bible.
I love this series. I wish this commentary set was around when I was much younger and looking for commentaries which were deep but that the common laymen could understand and easily read. Not getting caught up in all the details but giving real help in interpretation and application in a readable way. Barry Webb matches the other great authors in this series (Stott, Wilcox, Wright, Atkinson....) in putting together a good resource for one just wanting to understand the book of Zechariah better. Not a first choice for devotion or study, but a good solid contribution to the BST series.
Webb provides a conversational treatment of the book focused on evangelical theology. Useful until there are more current, conservative, book-length treatments of Zechariah.
This exposition of Zechariah focuses on the theme of the coming kingdom of God. The Christological and New Testament connections are highlighted. Webb avoids being drawn into speculative interpretations of the visions, and draws out some practical lessons for leaders. A great resource for anyone wanting to preach from Zechariah.
