Editorial Reviews
From the Back Cover
Canon Robinson suggests that the editors of I Kings compiled their history in order to teach the Hebrews that their existence as Israel, the covenant people of God, depended upon their continuing loyalty to their own religious traditions, and their refusal to exchange them for the very different traditions of the Canaanites among whom they lived.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2017Robinson's books on I Kings and II Kings are easy to read and very informative. They can be read and enjoyed by non-scholars who will discover that what they thought about the Bible and the stories in Kings is not true. People really do not know what the Bible is saying. Many recall what they learnt in Sunday schools as children, information for children, but not what the Bible actually says. Others listen to preachers preach, but the clerics usually do not tell their audiences what the Bible actually states but moral lessons that they draw from the text, lessons that are not even implied in the chapters of the Bible. Scholars like Robinson tell what the Bible is saying. It is eye-opening. It is fascinating.
