Product Description

Hosea, the 24th volume in the Anchor Bible Commentary series is a collaborative effort between leading OT scholars Francis I. Andersen and David Noel Freedmen. It offers a fresh interpretation of Hosea the book and of the prophet's life and work. The commentary includes a new translation, painstakingly documented and in lock-step with the abundant manuscript evidence of this unique and extraordinary book.

Written for both scholar and general reader there is cultural and linguistic information that sets each passage within the socio-historic context of the eighth-century B.C.E. Hebrew vocabulary, syntax, and poetic nuances are examined in an effort to confront one of the most obscure sections of biblical literature.
