Review
--Barbara Brown Taylor, author of Holy Envy: Finding God in the Faith of Others
"Frank Wade provides fresh insight into biblical stories we have long read without giving them second thought. His interpretations are both original and sound. . . . Reflecting on Biblical Fracking will deepen our understanding and strengthen our faith."
--John C. Danforth, former United States Senator from Missouri
"This book is an invitation for an adventure in experiencing the Scriptures through a different lens--fresh, imaginative, and new."
--Samuel T. Lloyd, former Dean of the Washington National Cathedral
"For the readers of Biblical Fracking, the familiar people, words, and situations of the Bible take on new depth and meaning as the author probes familiar situations with respect, insight, and humor. Get acquainted with the Bible as newly alive."
--Bonnie Anderson, Episcopal Divinity School at Union Theological Seminary
"Frank Wade has written a little gem of a book that does wonderful things. With imaginative questions, a sparkling writing style, and much good humor, he offers an array of revelatory encounters with biblical characters both great and small--from Abraham to Zipporah."
--James P Wind, retired president of the Alban Institute, and author of Places of Worship

- Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2019Any individual or group who is serious about Bible study must read this book by Frank Wade. The book adds an important opportunity to deepen your understanding of any biblical story. The book is written in a style that is typical of Wade's ability to immediately draw the reader in on page one with his writing style: clarity, dry humor, imagination and a fresh approach to biblical studies. It is a masterful book and a must read!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2019What a wonderful gift Dr. Wade has given to the church community. This book is a guide to unlocking the biblical stories and characters in a delightful way. Wade points away from “answers” and single interpretations toward the arena of mystery and imagination as he explores the events and people in many of our most familiar biblical narratives. Frank Wade invites the reader to step inside the story and explore the human dilemma, poking around at new possibilities and nuances of the human condition. Well written with his good humor and scholarly insights, Dr. Wade has given us book to “read, mark and inwardly digest “ for the benefit of our soul.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2020I have had a great time with "Biblical Fracking" even though it doesn't answer a single question I've ever asked but adds a bunch more questions that I hadn't even thought of. I really enjoyed letting my imagination follow Dr. Wade's into the "cracks and crevices" of the biblical text and discovering unexpected personalities there. We know only the outlines of most biblical stories. In imaginatively filling in the details of the lives of biblical characters and giving them full psychological profiles, Dr. Wade has examined biblical stories and characters from new points of view and invited us to do the same. "Biblical Fracking" is an eye-opening and delightful read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2020Biblical Fracking is a creative approach to scripture that brings new life to familiar texts and extracts wisdom from overlooked stories. Well known figures are seen in a new light that points to important concepts such as authenticity, humility, and the revelation of God. I hope there is a volume two to this work.
